Krista Babyak: Hello WPXI!

Summer Web Interns 2012
Krista Babyak

Hello WPXI! Before I start introducing myself and blabbing about my life story, I’d like to paint the picture as I sit here typing. I’m sitting on my twin-bed enjoying a short, dark Italian coffee, pleased with Brad Paisley’s country twang and staring at my running shoes on the hardwood floor.  Although I’m a Baltimore native, my relatives are scattered throughout the greater 412 area. My parents are originally from Shaler and North Braddock. Thus, I’ve been coming to Pittsburgh ever since I was born. Although I didn't grown up here, I know my way from Shadyside to Kennywood.

I love smiling and happy, easy-going people because I’m one of them. I’ve been told I embody the sun.

I just spent four months in Europe, living in Italy’s northern region of Piedmont, in the city of Torino. I could write an entire blog on those four months and the love I have for all things Italian, but this is an introductory blog about me, and I don’t want to make you jealous. Therefore, I’ll put down my small cup filled with dark Italian espresso and give you a mini auto-biography.

I’ll be a graduating senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the fall. I’m a journalism major with an Italian minor, thanks to living in Torino. I hail from Baltimore, and therefore am partial to my own city, but the time I’ve spent here in Pittsburgh has impressed me with good vibes.

I have a phenomenal sense of humor and love to laugh. I love all sports, but I mainly play tennis and watch football. All football. I’m a huge fan of the summer and my family.

That’s me in a nutshell. Thanks for reading and I’m very excited to help out with WPXI for the summer.
