5 planets aligning in evening sky starting Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — The evening sky could be quite the sight to see if we can get any sort of clearing just after sunset.

Five of the other seven planets in our solar system will be visible in the evening sky the next couple of nights. The best opportunity will be this evening, but clouds may block the celestial view.

Jupiter and Mercury will line up just above the horizon with Venus, Uranus and Mars completing the line up from the horizon to about 50 degrees above the horizon in the western sky. Seeing Uranus will most likely require at least binoculars, but all five planets will be there. If you have trouble locating the planets this evening, start by looking just below the crescent moon.
