ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — The inbound HOV lanes on Interstates 279 and 579 will be closed Thursday morning for evaluations.

According to a news release, the lanes in Ross Township and the City of Pittsburgh will not be open to traffic to allow for technology and equipment evaluations on the HOV system.

The fast-acting gates, wrong-way detection equipment and software will be tested on Thursday.

HOV lanes will reopen to traffic at 3 p.m. Thursday in the outbound direction. The lanes will remain open in that direction while PennDOT evaluates operational effectiveness.
