South Fayette High School will learn virtually Friday after sprinkler system activates

SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Students at South Fayette High School will learn virtually on Friday after the sprinkler system activated for an unknown reason.

According to a social media post from the school district, the sprinkler above the theatre stage was activated at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Everyone inside the school at the time evacuated.

The school will operate virtually on a two-hour delay schedule on Friday, March 17.

In-person learning will continue as scheduled for students at the middle, intermediate and elementary schools.

The district didn’t say if the sprinkler will affect the musical, which is scheduled to open tonight.
