SOUTH FAYETTE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Students at South Fayette High School will learn virtually on Friday after the sprinkler system activated for an unknown reason.
According to a social media post from the school district, the sprinkler above the theatre stage was activated at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Everyone inside the school at the time evacuated.
The school will operate virtually on a two-hour delay schedule on Friday, March 17.
At approximately 7 p.m. this evening, the sprinkler system above the high school theatre stage was activated. At this point, we are unsure of what caused the sprinkler system to activate. Everyone inside the high school at the time evacuated and is safe.

In-person learning will continue as scheduled for students at the middle, intermediate and elementary schools.
The district didn’t say if the sprinkler will affect the musical, which is scheduled to open tonight.
