Ground stop temporarily issued at Pittsburgh International Airport due to drone flying in area

Pittsburgh International Airport experienced a temporary ground stoppage due to an unauthorized drone that was sighted near the airport.

The air traffic control tower issued the temporary stop, which has since been lifted, for about 30 minutes after the drone was spotted, Bob Kerlik, director of public affairs for the Allegheny County Airport Authority, said.

Law enforcement responded and are attempting to locate the operator. Operations of the airport terminals remain unaffected, Kerlik said.
