Man accused of fatally stabbing woman in Pittsburgh’s Hill District in 2017 found guilty

PITTSBURGH — A man charged with criminal homicide after a woman was stabbed to death in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood in 2017 was found guilty in court.

Officers were called shortly before 4 p.m. on June 2, 2017 to a home on Francis Street for a domestic incident, authorities said. The woman was found with multiple stab wounds in the home’s basement and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where she died shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Police said 31-year-old Quincy Fuqua, the man suspected of stabbing 34-year-old Makebia Morgan, of Swissvale, was found outside the home. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital with several cuts and was arrested after his release.

According to the criminal complaint, Fuqua told police he “had to kill her” and then accused her of sleeping with “everybody, even my best friend!!”

The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office said Fuqua was found guilty of first-degree murder after the jury deliberated for around eight hours.

Fuqua’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 25.
