Man accused of punching 2 men in the face while they were waiting for their bus, assaulting officer

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Robert Leech, Jr., 30, is facing charges of assault, harassment, assaulting an officer, and terroristic threats stemming from an incident early Tuesday morning in McKeesport.

According to court documents, Leech is accused of punching two men in the face while they were waiting to catch a bus at the McKeesport Transportation Center.

“That’s bad. That’s real bad,” said Prince Giles reacting to news of the alleged attack while waiting to catch a bus.

It happened, according to court documents, around 1:00 am Tuesday after one of the men attempted to help Leech pull up his pants which were, “very far below his waist.”

“This is a quiet neighborhood but during the weekend, that’s where it’s really bad,” said Giles, who added that incidents like this are the reason he avoids the transportation center late at night.

Instead, he opts to catch his bus further up the street where he says the lighting is better and there are fewer people.

“It’s hard to see at night. It’s well lit, but it’s not well lit enough, I mean especially down here [at the transportation center],” said Giles.

When McKeesport Police tried to arrest Leech, the criminal complaint states that Leech kicked an officer multiple times while being put in the back of a police car.

The arresting officer also wrote in the complaint that Leech made multiple threats toward officers and “threatened to cut our heads off and murder us.”

Leech was arraigned early Wednesday morning and was unable to post $5,000 bail.

He’s being held at the Allegheny County Jail.

Leech is due back in court for a preliminary hearing July 18.
