Sugar shift: Macaron Bar moving from East Liberty to Butler Street

East Liberty, a neighborhood that would’ve raised eyebrows for having more than one in the first place not that long ago, is losing one of its macaron bakeries.

After local operator Gaby et Jules opened up on Penn Avenue in 2019 across the street from Macaron Bar, a budding chain based in Cincinnati, the two bakery businesses have had more than three years, pandemic-marred as they may have been, to figure out if the neighborhood had enough French dessert eaters for the both of them.

The answer seems to be apparently not.

Macaron Bar announced on its Facebook page that it is moving from its established location in East Liberty to the 6th Ward of Butler Street in Lawrenceville.
