Man sentenced to life in prison in connection with Wilkinsburg tax return murder

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his role in a murder that police said was over a tax refund.

Kaijin Scott was sentenced to life in prison, plus an additional 12 to 24 years.

Scott was the alleged getaway driver back in 2018 when Keiuauna Davis was shot and killed on her way home from work at a Dollar General in Wilkinsburg.

Laya Whitley worked with Davis, and knew she had cash on her from her tax return, investigators said. Whitley texted Dane Taylor to set the robbery, according to investigators, and then they ambushed Davis and tried to steal her $3,000 check.

Both pleaded guilty back in 2019.
