Shots were fired about 7:30 p.m. outside Ace’s Tavern on Broadway Avenue. A 28-year-old man was hit in the chest and legs. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but officials said he is expected to survive.

Sedric Riddick, who turned 22 years old on Friday, fired the shots, according to police. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

After reviewing surveillance video, police said the 28-year-old man was seen getting into an argument with a woman inside the bar. That’s when Riddick and a few other people stepped in.

Both Riddick and the man who was shot were seen with guns inside the bar before they went outside, police said.

When officers got to the scene, they found Riddick with a gun in his hand and the 28-year-old suffering from gunshot wounds with a gun lying next to him, according to authorities.

In all, investigators counted 22 spent shell casings at the scene. Police said Riddick was the only one who fired a gun.

Channel 11 returned to the scene Friday morning. Several businesses were visibly damaged by bullet holes.

A sign outside of Ace’s Tavern noted “due to recent incidents and stupid (expletive) the bar will be closed until further notice - by order of the state police.”

Inside, Channel 11 spoke to a husband and wife who own the bar.

They told us the situation is upsetting, with the wife noting “this is not that kind of bar.”

They said the situation is not their fault, noting that shots were only fired outside of the building.

They hope to resume business soon as they’re “barely making it by” as it is now.
