First time both Powerball, Mega Millions have jackpots above $700 million at same time

PITTSBURGH — The Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots now have a combined total of almost $1.6 billion, marking the first time ever that both have jackpots above $700 million at the same time.

Lottery officials said this is also the highest combined jackpots since Oct. 2018 when the Mega Millions was hit at $1.537 billion.

The Mega Millions will be drawn Tuesday night and offers an annuity value of $865 million, with an estimated cash value of $638.8 million. If there is no winner, the estimated jackpot for the Friday, Jan. 22 drawing will be $970 million.

The Powerball jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing is as estimated $730 million. The jackpot was last won on Sept. 16. There have been 35 drawings in a row without a jackpot winner.
