See 'Crown' star Claire Foy as Lisbeth Salander in 'The Girl in the Spider's

Remember The Crown episode from Season 2 where Prince Philip (Matt Smith) teased Queen Elizabeth (Clare Foy) about her new short haircut?

Well, the haircut on Foy's newest character is way more extreme.

On Thursday, moviegoers got their first look at Foy — who fans have grown accustomed to seeing with subdued, regal tresses — as Lisbeth Salander, the hacker with the edgy, short-cropped, jet-black hair and neck tattoo (not to mention a chalky, painted-on eye mask) in The Girl in the Spider's Web.

She's also traded the queen's trademark Launer handbag for a taser, which she uses on a tech tycoon who abuses his wife and other women. The wife, sporting visible bruises and a bloody nose, is about to call security until Lisbeth says she's transferring 80% of the man's money to her.

Foy, whose casting was announced in September, is the third actress to play Salander, a rebellious, world-renowned computer hacker who works with investigative reporter Mikael Blomkvist. Rooney Mara starred as the character in David Fincher's 2011 hit The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (which won an Oscar for film editing), and Noomi Rapace had the role in the original Dragon Tattoo and two other Swedish-language films.

Blomkvist, who was played by Michael Nyqvist in the Swedish originals and Britain's Daniel Craig in Dragon Tattoo, will be played by another Swede this time: Sverrir Gudnason (Borg vs McEnroe).

Their co-stars will include Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049), Lakeith Stanfield (Atlanta) and Stephen Merchant (Extras). The movie was directed by Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe).

The film, due in theaters on Nov. 9, is based on the book published in 2015. It was the first book in the Millenium series written by David Lagercrantz after its creator, Stieg Larsson, died in 2004.
