1-year-old injured during ‘targeted’ drive-by shooting in Braddock Hills, police say

ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A 1-year-old boy was injured by flying glass during a “targeted” drive-by shooting in the Braddock Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh Friday afternoon, according to police.

Police said the shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Yost Boulevard and Brinton Road.

After an initial investigation, detectives said three children -- including the 1-year-old -- and their parents were traveling in a white Kia Optima when “unknown individuals" began firing gunshots from another vehicle.

Police believe that the 27-year-old father was the target of the shooting, but no one was struck by gunfire.

Chopper 11 flew over the large police presence at two different locations on Yost Boulevard.

Channel 11′s Michele Newell noticed shell casings on the ground at the intersection where police said the shooting happened.

There were a large numbers of officers at an AutoZone farther down the boulevard. The intersection and the store are roughly a half-mile apart. There was also an ambulance at the auto parts store.

Our crews spotted a car in the AutoZone parking lot riddle with bullet holes on one side.

Police said they are searching for who pulled the trigger. What led to the shooting is still unclear.
