3 hurt in construction zone crash near Pittsburgh Zoo

PITTSBURGH — Three people are in stable condition Wednesday after a crash near the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.

Police said the crash happened in a construction zone on Butler Street late Tuesday.

Pittsburgh police said one of the vehicles involved was coming across the Highland Park Bridge when it collided with another car.

“Right now we’re being very careful to investigate the cause of this,” said Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler. “There may have been a mix of speed, and the dangerous conditions from it being dark and in a construction area.”

The three victims were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and are listed in stable condition.
