5 arrested, 3 more sought in North Braddock drug roundup

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County police arrested five people and are looking for three more after a drug roundup in North Braddock Friday.

Investigators said the five people were taken into custody Friday morning from the General Braddock Apartments on Sixth Street.

Officials said this particular investigation began eight months ago.  Undercover detectives said they purchased heroin and other controlled substances.

"I think it helps clear up the environment inside that housing project, and I believe it makes the streets a little bit safer," said Allegheny County police Lt. Jeffrey Korczyk.

Police said the suspects range in age from 20 to 60. Police continue to search for three other people involved.

Residents were surprised.

"I've been here for three years, and it's decent," she said.
