Man swept away by river current not yet located

O'HARA TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The search for a man who was swept away by the Allegheny River current was suspended Friday night. Authorities plan to resume searching Saturday at 9 a.m.

The incident occurred late Friday afternoon near the Fox Chapel Yacht Club. Crews worked for hours in that area to locate the man, even bringing dogs onto their boats to assist.

Sources on scene told Channel 11's Pamela Osborne that the man was setting up a light display on his boat -- something he does every year -- when the current took him under. They describe the victim as an avid boater.

Osborne reported seeing the man's wife being treated at the scene by ambulance workers.
