Armed homeowner scares off would-be burglars in Pittsburgh neighborhood

PITTSBURGH — A homeowner armed with a gun scared off two would-be burglars who broke into his home early Tuesday morning, Pittsburgh police said.

Authorities said the men smashed a kitchen window to enter the home on Adelaide Street around 2:30 a.m. The sound of the breaking glass woke up the homeowner. Police said he grabbed his gun and confronted the men in his kitchen.

According to police, the homeowner told the men to get out and they followed his orders, backing out of the kitchen and climbing back down a fire escape.
