School plans changing after coronavirus outbreak in Montour School District

“I think the virtual [schooling] is better right now for the first 9 weeks and we will see what happens after that,” said bus driver Leona Davenport.

The district made the decision to move to a hybrid model for the first four weeks of the school after consulting with the Allegheny County Health Department.

Davenport said she is nervous about how the kids she drives will be able to maintain a safe distance.

“They want to sit by their friends. They want to play with their friends. They haven’t seen them in a while, and you can’t stop kids from visiting with their friends,” she said.

The district is also still planning to have fall sports.
