Allegheny County approves sick leave proposal

PITTSBURGH — Allegheny County Council on Tuesday evening approved a paid sick leave bill that had taken several twists and turns, including a veto following concerns about the legality of a previous vote.

Council voted 15-0 to approve the bill.

“It took a long time in getting here, but it was well worth it, because it’s a win for all of Allegheny County,” said Council President Pat Catena just before the vote.

The sick leave bill provides up to 40 hours of paid sick leave for workers at Allegheny County companies that have 26 or more workers.
