PITTSBURGH — The Allegheny County Health Department said Monday it will still enforce air quality standards even with the relaxing of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency guidelines due to the COVID-19 crisis.

“Air quality in our region, particularly in the Mon Valley, continues to be one of our most pressing public health challenges. Even during this pandemic, with our attention focused on response and actions to deal with COVID-19 in our community, we are not losing sight of that need,” said Dr. Debra Bogen, the new director of the Allegheny County Health Department, in a statement Monday.
