Churchill to test the limits of Zoom with hearings for huge Amazon facility

PITTSBURGH — Churchill Borough has begun three days of hearings regarding a proposal to redevelop the 144-acre George Westinghouse Research park into a new Amazon.com Inc. distribution facility — via Zoom.

Yet, the Zoom format, commonly used for meetings since the pandemic’s start, has its advantages and disadvantages.

Churchill Borough Manager Alex Graziani had reason to think as many as 500 people might participate over a total of 15 hours that could take three nights, starting on July 19, with a second day likely on July 22 and a third day of hearings to come July 26, if needed.
