FedEx Ground to reduce some Sunday operations

PITTSBURGH — A wide-ranging corporate cost reduction initiative announced late Thursday at FedEx Corp. will lead to the reduction of Sunday deliveries in an unspecified number of FedEx Ground locations.

Revenue and earnings at FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), the parent company of FedEx Ground, had been impacted by what it called macroeconomic weaknesses in the quarter ended Aug. 31, which included revenue shortfalls of $500 million at FedEx Express and $300 million at FedEx Ground.
