PITTSBURGH — Forbes has released the annual rankings of the most valuable MLB team franchises throughout the country, and the results aren’t good for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

According to Forbes' most valuable teams in baseball rankings, the value of the Pittsburgh Pirates decreased this year, making it one of only two teams in the MLB to see its overall valuation fall year-over-year.

Unlike NBA teams — which saw their value increase an average of 13% year-over-year and every franchise’s value increased by at least 6% — the change in value of MLB franchises in 2020 was more mixed.
