Lubert-Adler under agreement to buy the Pittsburgher as it closes in on finishing key components of the Kaufmann’s Grand project

PITTSBURGH — Dean Adler’s ambitions to revive the prospects of the Kaufmann’s Grand on Fifth redevelopment downtown are crossing Forbes Avenue to include The Pittsburgher office building.

Amid a host of new upgrades and updates for the million-square-foot department store building resuscitation, the CEO of Philadelphia-based Lubert-Adler Real Estate Funds revealed his company is under agreement to buy the neighboring office building at 428 Forbes Ave., a 25-story structure that totals about 130,000 square feet.

He emphasized that nothing is official as far as a final buy.
