Penguins development team presents plan for FNB Financial Center to Pittsburgh Planning Commission

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Penguins’ development team presented their first private development project for the 28-acre former Civic Arena site in the Lower Hill to the Pittsburgh Planning Commission.

It was a presentation in which the Penguins and their main development partner, Buccini/Pollin Group (BPG), introduced the fraught history of the site’s previous redevelopment and their detailed efforts to overcome the social damage caused by it to the rest of the Hill District neighborhood.

“We will have succeeded when you don’t know where our project starts and when it ends,” said Chris Buccini, a co-president of BPG, based in Wilmington, Delaware.
