Pittsburgh and Allegheny County offer rental assistance program for those in need

PITTSBURGH — Eligible residents of Allegheny County and the City of Pittsburgh can now apply for rental assistance if needed amid the pandemic.

The funding for Allegheny County’s rental assistance comes from the CARES Rent Relief Program (C-RRP) while the City of PIttsburgh is receiving funding from the city’s Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Housing Stabilization Program (HSP), which is hosted by the Housing Opportunity Fund.

Up to six months of rental assistance will be offered until Dec. 30 as part of the county’s C-RRP program. Pittsburgh’s HSP, however, is offering up to $3,000 for rent, mortgage, legal and utility assistance. Pennsylvania residents are also able to seek assistance from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
