Port Authority to unveil new name, brand

PITTSBURGH — The Port Authority of Allegheny County is set to soon unveil a new brand and name.

At 10 a.m. on Thursday at Gateway Station, leaders are set to announce the change, which will “better reflect the services, values, and goals as a public transportation agency, a major local employer, and an integral part of the Pittsburgh region,” according to a release.

Riders we spoke with on Monday had mixed feelings.

“I think it’s a fresh, clean slate,” said one regular bus rider, Savannah Wood.

Wood, however, noted that she’s often unhappy with the service and would not be in favor of paying an increased fare to cover the potential cost of a brand change.

“I don’t know if it’s going to do any good or not, personally, I think they need to focus on better service,” said rider Rodney Regan.

In April, Channel 11 covered rider frustrations over shuttle delays, which we learned was the result, in part, of staffing issues.

We have reached out to the Port Authority for more information on the changes and suspected cost.
