State announces $16.5 million in funds for local counties to attract businesses, create jobs and expand energy infrastructure

PITTSBURGH — The Wolf administration announced plans to offer $16.5 million in grants and loans for projects that attract new businesses, create jobs and expand energy infrastructure. All of the funding will be offered for approved Business In Our Sites (BOS) projects in Allegheny, Beaver, Fayette and Lawrence counties.

“Pennsylvania holds a strong competitive advantage, and by redeveloping unused sites for new use, we only further strengthen our position with businesses looking to operate here in the commonwealth,” Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin said in a press release. “This funding will help provide the resources needed to build attractive, pad-ready sites, create an inviting location for businesses, and support the retention and creation of hundreds of jobs for communities across Pennsylvania.”

In Allegheny County, RIDC Southwestern Pennsylvania Growth Fund was approved for a $1.6 million grant and a $2.4 million loan so it can continue its work on the redevelopment of Mill 19, a 12.6-acre plot in Hazelwood Green.
