PITTSBURGH — The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the University of Pittsburgh a $1 million grant to research the accessibility of autonomous vehicles and mobility services for people with disabilities, according to a news release. 

The grant, in consortium with the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and the Catholic University of America, will span 18 months. 

The department announced the grant as part of a larger strategic plan to increase accessibility in mobility and transportation efforts during the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act this month.
