PITTSBURGH — Viatris is moving ahead with the closure of its predecessor Mylan’s original manufacturing plant in Morgantown, West Virginia, next month.
The Canonsburg-based Viatris (Nasdaq: VTRS) announced in December after Mylan’s merger with Upjohn that it would be closing more than a dozen facilities worldwide. One of those on the list was Mylan Pharmaceutical’s drug manufacturing plant in Morgantown, where it has been located since 1965.
Viatris held out hope that perhaps the plant could be sold but Viatris (Nasdaq: VTRS) sent to Workforce West Virginia a WARN Notice saying the plant would be shut July 31.
The closing will lay off 1,431 employees.
