Walnut Capital proposes to demolish homes along Halket in Oakland

PITTSBURGH — After selling the site approved for a research office tower to the University of Pittsburgh, Walnut Capital Partners is pursuing new plans along Halket Street within Oakland’s busy Fifth and Forbes business corridor.

According to a notice by the community organization Oakland Planning and Development Corp., Walnut Capital is planning to demolish three neighboring townhouses from 107 to 111 Halket Street that neighbor the alley, Euler Way.

Walnut Capital CEO Greg Perelman said his company owns the properties and is seeking to demolish them for an undetermined plan by the firm, adding the houses are in such disrepair that it’s better to demolish them.
