DA Drops Conflicting Case Of Pittsburgh Cop, Wife

PITTSBURGH,None — Allegheny County prosecutors have withdrawn domestic violence charges against a Pittsburgh police detective and his wife, because their conflicting accounts of the event make the case impossible to prosecute.

Detective David Honick, 37, and his wife, Jennifer, who is also 37, had both been charged with simple assault after police were called to their home about 11 a.m. Feb. 6.

Police said Honick's wife claims he punched and kicked her after she accused him of infidelity. The detective said she attacked him in bed and that he pushed her off, but didn't hit her.

The charges were withdrawn when the couple was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Tuesday. Honick is a vice detective but remains on restricted duty pending an internal investigation. His wife remains on duty as a clerk in the city's Zone 2 police station.
