• EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta to kick off July 2

The EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta, the biggest summer event of the season in the region, will kick off July 2 and run through July 4 in downtown Pittsburgh.

For the first time in regatta history, there will be two fireworks displays. The first display is on July 3, with fireworks being shot from the Wyndham Grand, and the second will be the Flashes of Freedom display on the Fourth of July.

The largest inland regatta in the country will also feature one of the biggest powerboat races of the year to be held on the three rivers, the Super League North American Championships.

Regatta Board Chairman, John Bonassi said this event draws spectators from all over the world.

"So many people ask about the Regatta. We've had people come from Europe to this event, Canada, from South America,'" said Bonassi.

Returning this year, artists transform 160 tons of sand into a massive American history-themed sand sculpture.

Once again this year Channel 11 is the place to be to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from the comfort of your home. The E-Q-T Flashes of Freedom Fireworks Fantasia  airs at 9 p.m. on WPXI-TV on July 4.
