Former Family Dollar store in Jeannette destroyed by fire

JEANNETTE, Pa. — Firefighters from Jeannette and surrounding communities were called to the former Family Dollar store on Clay Avenue Saturday night.

The fire is still burning and has been for over 20 hours. Rostraver's ladder truck has been requested to the scene.

The fire call came in at 10:30 p.m.

Fire crews from Jeannette, Irwin, Greensburg, Grapeville and Harrison City responded to the building, which is the size of a city block.

The roof of the three-story building collapsed and the structure appeared to be destroyed.

Dozens of neighbors filled the street as they tried to see what was happening.

There were no immediate reports of injuries and all firefighters made it out of the building safely.
