TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida man was recently sent a parking ticket seven years after committing the violation.
The city of Tampa changed its citation system and is flagging unpaid violations that might have slipped through the cracks, WFLA reported.
"The policy is wrong," Joe Reeser, who paid a $40 violation from 2012 recently, told WFLA. "I don't know how many other people they're dinging on this. What's to say that tomorrow they don't send me something from 15 years ago?"

Because the car he was driving was leased, the city initially sent the violation to a finance company, WFLA reported.
