LATROBE, Pa.,None — Part of a roof collapsed at a popular furniture store in Latrobe on Wednesday.
Mary Piper, who lives across from Weiss Furniture Warehouse, said she first noticed the collapse early Wednesday morning.
"I looked out my bedroom window and looked across the road, and it didn't look right," said Piper. "So, I came out to (the) window and looked out. It wasn't right. It caved in."
Weiss Furniture store manager Fred McCloy said he's shocked by the immense destruction.
"When I came up to the front of the building, it didn't look that bad," said McCloy. "Then went around the side, and it looked like a hurricane went through or something."
Damage to the building and the contents inside is valued at $250,000.
In the rubble, broken dinettes and bedroom sets can be found. Luckily, crews said none of it was presold to customers.
The warehouse, which is built of cement block and a wooden roof, was built in 1977. The roof gave way under the crushing pressure of thick snow and ice.
Weiss had three warehouses on the property. Engineers will check the other buildings building before workers are allowed back inside.
No one was in the building at the time and no injuries were reported, authorities said.
