Heat and humidity lead to scattered showers, thunderstorms Tuesday

PITTSBURGH — Severe Weather Team 11 is tracking strong to severe storms possible Tuesday afternoon as heat and humidity persist throughout the day.

Meteorologist Scott Harbaugh said the showers and storms will be scattered and not everyone will see rain.

“Any storms that do form will have the potential of gusty winds in excess of 40 mph,” Harbaugh said.

Heavy rainfall and some hail can also be expected with the formation of storms.

A cold front draped across northwestern Ohio will eventually push through the Channel 11 viewing area Thursday, ending a chance of scattered storms.

The front will also provide cooler, less humid air for Independence Day.
