PITTSBURGH — Icy conditions caused dozens of accidents during the Wednesday morning commute, even though temperatures were above freezing.

Severe Weather Team 11 Meteorologist Scott Harbaugh said the skies cleared out and heat escaped from the road surfaces, causing road temperatures to fall below freezing.

Some school districts delayed classes because of the icy conditions.
More than 30 accidents were reported before 7 a.m. Channel 11’s Trisha Pittman reported that another dozen crashes had happened by 7:30 a.m.
