Off-road vehicle crashes in Buffalo Twp., killing driver

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Washington, Pennsylvania, man was killed when his off-road vehicle crashed in Buffalo Township early Saturday.

According to police, James Beatty Jr., 28, was traveling on Route 221 near the intersection with Pleasant Valley Road about 12:30 a.m. Beatty's 2012 Polaris Ranger failed to negotiate a curve and struck an embankment.

Beatty was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

An investigation is ongoing. Police said speed and alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash.
