Somerset Co. man hit, killed by train in Westmoreland Co.

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A Somerset County man was fatally struck by a train in Westmoreland County early Sunday morning.

Christopher Reed, 22, of Windber Borough, was hit by the Norfolk Southern train along Route 56 in Seward around 1 a.m. in St. Clair Township, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha said train personnel engaged the emergency braking system when Reed was spotted on the track.

Police are investigating.
