Cause of deadly Indiana County fire remains under investigation

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — The fire marshal continues to investigate the cause of a fire in Indiana County Saturday that claimed the life of a 9-year-old boy and a 50-year-old woman.

Authorities said the fire started around midnight along Route 286 in Young Township.

According to the coroner, Michael Collier, 9, and Vickie Milliron, 50, of Claridge, who was visiting, died when the mobile home caught on fire. The coroner said Milliron died trying to save another little boy in the house.

Police said two other people were hurt and taken to UPMC Mercy hospital with serious injuries.

The Clarksburg Valley Inn, where Collier’s mother works, is now taking donations, including money, clothes and toys for the family.
