2-year-old out of coma following deadly Butler Co. accident

BRADY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A little girl’s condition is improving following a Butler County crash that took the lives of her mother, her mother’s fiancé and their 3-year-old son in June.

Emily McLaughlin, 2, is off life support and out of a coma that she had been in for two weeks following the June 19 accident.

“She was letting you know she heard you. She would squeeze your hand. I was like, ‘Wow, I can't believe she's responding,’” said McLaughlin’s grandmother, Margaret McLaughlin. “Her brain is working on its own, which is a blessing. We keep praying every night. Her body is starting to work now.”

Margaret McLaughlin said she hopes that Emily will get out of the ICU soon.

Emily’s 11-year-old sister was also injured in the accident. She is recovering at home.
