3 hunters return safe after getting lost in Fayette Co.

LOWER TYRONE, Pa. — Three hunters missing in Lower Tyrone on Monday evening were found by tracking their cell phones, officials said.

Perry Township assistant fire Chief A.J. Boni said the men got lost about 100 feet from railroad tracks near Banning Road.

A fourth member of their party made it back to their vehicle near Tower Road in Lower Tyrone Township and called 911, he said.

"They're not familiar with this area and it got dark on them pretty quickly," Boni said.

The men were not injured and were able to walk out of the woods on their own, he said.
