Award-winning actor gives commencement address at La Roche College

PITTSBURGH — Award-winning actor, social activist and humanitarian Martin Sheen was on hand to deliver the commencement address at La Roche College on Saturday.

Sheen also received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from the college. For decades, Sheen has been an activist on peace and social justice issues.

During his address to the graduates, Sheen spoke about how he admired La Roche College for its pursuit in educating youth.

"This college is about building better children for our world. It's very clear that they are sending young people out into the world to be a light and an inspiration and energy," said Sheen.

Sheen has starred in over 100 films, but may be best known for his role as the president of the United States in the television series "The West Wing."
