Charges filed against repeat offender after 16 dogs rescued in Beaver Falls

BEAVER FALLS — Sixteen dogs are recovering tonight after being rescued from a home in Beaver Falls.

Beaver County Humane Society officers say conditions at the home were deplorable. Humane Society Police Officer Tristan Wenzig says there were “multiple piles of feces, saturated floors with urine...The smell of the home was unbearable, we actually had to put respirators on for how bad the smell was.

”A total of 64 felony misdemeanor and two felony aggravated cruelty charges have been filed. Humane society officers were notified by Beaver Falls police that the 16 dogs were abandoned after the homeowner was taken to the hospital last week.

This is a homeowner Wenzig says the humane society has dealt with before.

Wenzig tells us six of the dogs were locked inside a room with empty food and water bowls.

One dog had a collar embedded in its neck so deeply that its trachea could almost be seen. Another dog had an ingrown nail that was growing out through the top of its foot.

Beaver County Humane Society Executive Director Susan Salyards says this case is a strong reminder of how things can get out of control if an owner neglects to get their pet the proper care.

“Vet care is expensive. We understand that and that’s why we are here to serve the community and to take on animals in situations like this.

”Salyards says it looks like all the dogs will make a full recovery. However, there is no timeline on when they will be ready for a new home.
