Sunday is the best day to shop for appliances. People are most likely to shop for a big ticket item on the weekend and that’s when retailers offer the most incentives.

Monday is the day to shop for cars and electronics. On Monday, dealerships may be more willing to negotiate, especially if sales over the weekend were lackluster.

Computers, TVs, even cameras are usually cheaper on Mondays because that's when big manufacturers such asSony and Dell introduce discounts.

Tuesday is the day to shop for airfare. In fact, according to years of data, some of the best deals are found at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

Thursday is when you'll find the best deals on clothing. It's when big retailers start their weekend sales and the selection is the greatest.

Saturday is the time to shop for books. Prices tend to spike on Friday and then plummet 11 percent on Saturday.

Of course, special promotions can pop up at any time, especially on the Internet. If you're shopping for something special and you see an incredible discount, be prepared to act quickly.
