Bob’s Tavern in Washington County will remain closed after being deemed ‘nuisance’

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — A Washington County judge ruled that the temporary injunction that was put on Bob’s Tavern in Finleyville will remain in place for now.

Today’s ruling comes days after Jason Irwin was shot multiple times in the parking lot of the bar. His body was found not far from the bar on Washington Road.

In court today, we learned from prosecutors and police that the the bar has a history of violence, drug use and crime.

Since the shooting last week, police testified they have seen multiple cars show up for what they presumed to be drug deals at the bar.

The owner, Rudy Zelak, testified that he’s never called police when violence or drug use has happened at his bar.

The judge told Zelak he didn’t have control of his business.

“I don’t think that was a fair assessment. I control what I can control,” Zelak told us after court.

The Washington County district attorney was satisfied with the ruling.

“The commonwealth agrees with Judge Lucas. I thought it was a well-reasoned opinion,” District Attorney Jason Walsh said.
