Body of missing 79-year-old man found

CHEAT LAKE, W. Va. — The body of 79-year-old Laurence H. Nichol has been found.

The West Virginia man, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, had been missing since Tuesday afternoon after leaving his daughter’s Cheat Lake area home.

Authorities said Nichol’s body was found Saturday night in a wooded area of Cheat Lake.

Volunteers and search and rescue teams began a massive search after his son-in-law, Herb Faulkenberry, said Nichol never returned from his usual afternoon walk.

A cause of death is unknown.
