Police: Boy, 5, attacked by dog in Lawrence County

NORTHERN BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A boy, 5, was attacked by a dog in Lawrence County Tuesday, police said.

A St. Bernard-Akita mix bit Adrian Osorio in the face in Northern Beaver Township, according to police.

"I heard him screaming, and I knew something was wrong.  There was just blood everywhere," said Renee Garnica, the boy's grandmother.

The dog's owner showed Channel 11 where the incident allegedly happened.  The boy's grandmother believes Osorio wanted to play ball with the dog.  The dog's owner said he was in his yard tied up to a chain.

"I know everyone wants to blame the dog, and I don't want my dog to ever hurt a child, but he was in his own yard," said the dog's owner.

Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz reported that the dog is quarantined in his house until a dog warden investigates.  State police are also investigating.

Osorio was taken to Children's Hospital for surgery.
