Bride stabs, kills fiancé hours before wedding in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA — A bride-to-be was sent to jail on her wedding day after police said she stabbed her fiancé twice and killed him.

Investigators said an argument provoked Nacola Franklin to stab her soon-to-be-husband around 2 a.m., just hours before their wedding was supposed to take place.

Officers said they found Billy Brewster on a second-floor landing at the couple's apartment. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.

"My wife and I were both shocked, surprised," said neighbor Steven Engel. "I don't understand what happened."

Franklin is charged with criminal homicide.
